My Wanderlust Dilemma

Note: This is solely speaks for myself, my context & thoughts. No judgement.

I am speaking from the context of myself being a female-student-muslims-malays and to have strong desire to travel, visited places, gain new experiences out of it. Looks like most of my girlfriends whose in early 20's, whose full fill those criteria but not share common interest. So here I go; My Wanderlust Dilemma.

Student
So being a student surely synonym with financial issues. We are not yet in that stage of life to provide for living. even so some people might argue that student should get a part-time job, but with my insanely schedule as a mahasiswa IPT in Malaysia which consist of back-to-back class every day, I seemed couldn't locate when is the suitable time to fit the part-time job, or would it be any employer interested to hire me? I remember of having conversation with my friends mainly from Europe and Australia how they are surprise that WE take 6-8 courses/subjects in average per semester. While,  my semester I spent in Australia, the students are only allowed to take maximum up to 4 courses/units/subjects per semester (Deakin University). I heard it same goes to other Uni in Australia. I haven't heard any of my friends in Australia whose taking as much as we do, up to 6-8. I still remember one of my Oz friend said to me "what?! are you crazy?! that is just too much. for me, 4 is already difficult. how do you manage to take up to 6-8 courses per semester? how is your class going?".. well, yeah, mostly we have class everyday, day-evening. While in Australia, most of my friends still able to have part-time job & they make living with the money they earn since their class possibly only 3-4 days per week. depends. but for sure not so packed as we have.

Female
My explanation for this one, related with the point of "malays" as well.
Well we are still living in the society that "gender discrimination is widely acceptable". Or at least in an environment I am living in. Women can not do that, women can not do this, women should do this and that. Women can not go travel alone, women should only do women stuff. Not that I am trying to be superior or what.. but mainly, I find it difficult to tolerate with such mindset and point of view. sure, there are certain things women are limited from doing, but in context of travel.. say if she knows how to take care and protect herself herself, to survive, that say so much about it. I had travel solo when I was in Australia, it was really amazing experience and it can be really addictive.

Malays
hm, I am not going to say much bout this. but the point relates with my explanation in "Female". Malays tend to have more conservative view about being 'woman-muslim-students' in relation to travel. It somehow affect the family decision in allowing the daughter to go for and adventure.

I respect my family; my parents a lot. their blessing is everything. I wouldn't do something if I don't get my parents' permission.

Money
I know saving for future is more important.. but it somehow makes me wonder would it be worth to only focus on keep my saving for future and to have lost the opportunities to have done something while I am young.

Trust me, I don't go for luxury travelling styles. When I went for travelling I tend to seek for cheapest flight ticket, dorm/hostel, I didn't eat fancy meal, I didn't splurged money on luxurious items.. I went travelling on shoe string budget. Find the most possible ways to cut cost. I prefer to spend the money on experiences such as parasailing.. My styles of travelling, I would like to experience living as the local. So believe me, the experience I got is more than something worth to be uploaded on Facebook or Instagram.

Psst; Shall we planning for next trip?

Till next time.
