My Top Favourite Romance Movies (Part 1)

3:55 AM

So I don’t know why am I writing this since I will be having Research Method exam tomorrow. Well I guess, because I just listened a song from my favorite romance movie ever. Yup! If got a person asked me, what is my favorite romance movie, it has been The Fault in Our Stars (TFIOS) and P.S I Love You. Cliché, No? No it’s not. Of course I have my very own reason why out of many romantic movies (like ones from Nicholas Sparks), these are my most favorite.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing to against Nicholas Sparks novel stories. But… for me, most of Sparks love stories are just too good to be true. It is not representing how the ‘actual’ world functioning which in most of his stories there’ll be always happy ending. Of course I like almost every of the Sparks novels & movies, it just, it doesn’t get into my head first when people ask me “what is your favorite romance movie?”

The answer has always been The Fault in Our Stars & P.S I Love You. Both are adapted from novel which written by John Green (TFIOS) and Cecelia Ahern (P.S I Love You) and of course! I own both of the novels!
I know it is kinda cliché to favorite these 2. Firstly for TFIOS, I like TFIOS because of the plot which  is very interesting; the acting styles which so casual but they really immerse as the character; the saying (quotes) oh my god! The quotes are godamn beautiful! But mostly, on how the writer imposed the character on how they see life and world from certain perspective. You know, these are few quotes from tfios which are my favourites;

“There will come a time when all of us are dead. All of us. There will come a time when there are no human beings remaining to remember that anyone ever existed or that our species ever did anything. There will be no one left to remember Aristotle or Cleopatra, let alone you. Everything that we did and built and wrote and thought and discovered will be forgotten and all of this will have been for naught. Maybe that time is coming soon and maybe it is millions of years away, but even if we survive the collapse of our sun, we will not survive forever. There was time before organisms experienced consciousness, and there will be time after. And if the inevitability of human oblivion worries you, I encourage you to ignore it. God knows that’s what everyone else does.” – Hazel Grace

 I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we're all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I am in love with you.” – Augustus Waters

 “You realize that trying to keep your distance from me will not lessen my affection for you. All efforts to save me from you will fail.” – Augustus Waters

“There are infinite numbers between 0 and 1. There's .1 and .12 and .112 and an infinite collection of others. Of course, there is a bigger infinite set of numbers between 0 and 2, or between 0 and a million. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities. A writer we used to like taught us that. There are days, many of them, when I resent the size of my unbounded set. I want more numbers than I'm likely to get, and God, I want more numbers for Augustus Waters than he got. But, Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. I wouldn't trade it for the world. You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I'm grateful.” – Hazel Grace

“You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world...but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices.” – Augustus Waters

“The world is not a wish-granting factory.” – Augustus Waters

In my opinion this movie delivers equally about life and love. How things mostly are not working out as how we wanted. Our life planning, even love live. We met someone, we fell in love but under circumstances we just can not be together. Nothing wrong with you two, it just life say so. And it is Okay. We live for the moment. For all the current moment we have. Just like them, instead of worrying how things might end, they focus to love each other and live the moment.. until the time comes. This movie shows selfless and unconditional love between Hazel and Augustus. Both prioritizing each other life’s then only come theirs. How they appreciate and cherish each other presence.

I love how Green, portrays Van Houten perspective in viewing the world. Those deep thoughts. Ah, they are like soul feeder.

Yeap, again.. I like the reminder of “you can’t always get what you want” just like what August said because “Apparently, the world is not a wish-granting factory”.

There are 2 scene which never fail make me to shed tears. Firstly, Hazel’s eulogy for Augustus, secondly.. guess what, yeap! Augustus’s Eulogy for Hazel.

 Oh ya! I love the movie soundtrack as well. I have one album of the OST. I guess everyone does?? haha. and, THEY ARE ALL MY FAVOURITE. I couldn't figure out which one is my most favorite soundtrack. They are all too well! there you go the link soundtrack album on youtube.

Last but not least… It’s because, it was filmed in AMSTERDAM!! **with Hazel excitement** “yeay, we’re going to Amsterdam!” just like how excited Hazel was. Yeap Amsterdam is one of the place on my top list that I wish to visit. On the list, after Amsterdam, would be Ireland. I wish one day I will make it to Amsterdam and other part of NL. Tulips, windmills, gondola.. gosh, okay one day hopefully!

Well, at first I wanted to write for both TFIOS and PS I LOVE YOU, but since time forbit, I will continue next time then for PS I LOVE YOU.
